Let's Travel, Discover Something New

I love traveling because it is one of the best ways to open the mind and find new inspiration. The memories of my journeys are precious and dear because they stay vivid long after arriving back home. Without traveling, I wouldn't be the person who I am, it shaped me and changed the way I think. It keeps my curiosity to learn more about this world and its people burning in my heart. Every journey is a challenge, revealing new sides of myself and making me appreciate life and a breeze of pure and overwhelming freedom.

When you leave the door to go on a journey, it's an opportunity to explore unknown places and leave your comfort zone while you encounter the unexpected far from your to-do lists. Traveling means saying goodbye to the daily routine and exchange it for an adventure. It can be a rather tame adventure or something more daring, but it's always the opposite of monotony. It's exciting to dive into new cultures, eat different food and be surrounded by an unknown language. Whenever I am on a journey I feel highly aware that there is more out there than my small microcosmos.

In everyday life it's so easy to get lost in a sea of pettinesses: Why is the bus not on time? Why is my hairdresser on holidays when I want to book an appointment? Why is the wi-fi so slow? Do you know what I mean? Sometimes a journey helps to realize all of those things are not that important at all, especially when we encounter people who have to deal with completely different things. There are as many ways to live a life as places on this planet and it's a gift to discover a few during a lifetime.

So let's pack our suitcase and off we go! I'm ready with my new cute luggage set from Lipault, of course in my favourite colour. From now on people can guess what bag is mine I guess.

Where does your next journey go?

The brand Mugler stands for a daring and extravagant style of fragrances, therefore it might be surprising that their latest release is a collection of colognes. But in fact, Thierry Mugler already created a cologne in 2001, next to the wider known and challenging signature fragrances Angel and Alien. It is said that Mugler wanted to recreate the scent of a soap he remembered from his childhood with this cologne. Now, 18 years later, the cologne series grows. The shape of the colourful bottles strongly resembles the very first Mugler cologne, but with a modern approach.

The new cologne collection features five unisex fragrances inspired by thrilling sensations and the use of unusual ingredients. Mugler calls them anti-fragrances because they are meant to be more than a fragrance, they are a manifesto of freedom, sensuality, and subversion. He says there is no race, no gender, no age, and no label.

The special thing about the colognes is that they invite you to mix and blend them to suit your mood at any moment and discover endless possibilities while having fun. The colognes are more casual than the other Mugler fragrances and might have a wider appeal since they lack the arbitrary nature of Alien or Angel and are instead pleasant, fresh and easygoing. A series of light summer scents that come in striking rainbow colours and with bold statements.

Take Me Out (orange)

The Notes
ORANGE BLOSSOM – SHISO LEAF –  SECRET "P" NOTE

How it smells
This is the warmest cologne of the series. It comes with a dash of minty shiso and is dominated by orange blossom. It's floral, fresh, bright and energetic and therefor might be the answer to your pleas for somebody to show up and take you out.

Fly Away (yellow)

The Notes

YELLOW GRAPEFRUIT – HEMP ACCORD –  SECRET "C" NOTE

How it smells
An aromatic and more masculine cologne with herbal notes that follow a punch of citrus accords. It's meant to heighten the senses to a high effervescence and let you feel each moment as in a waking dream.

Come Together (green)

The Notes
GREEN PETITGRAIN – WHITE MUSK –  SECRET "S" NOTE

How it smells
This cologne is not new, but Mugler's original from 2001 that received a new name and bottle to fit into the new series of colognes. If you are familiar with the cult classic don't worry, it's unchanged and the centerpiece of the new collection. Mugler describes it as the scent of skin against skin, sounds like a true sensation, right?

Love you all (blue)

The Notes
WHITE AMBER – BLUE LICORICE–  SECRET "E" NOTE

How it smells
The blue cologne is warm and fresh and at the same time quite syrupy. All in all, it's a mixture of so many things, it's hard to pinpoint something specific, but that's exactly what makes it intriguing.

Run Free (purple)

The Notes
PURPLE GINGER – AKIGALA WOOD –  SECRET "D" NOTE

How it smells
This woody cologne gives you an electrifying sensation with its spicy ginger scent. The akigala wood is powdery as a lovely contrast to the zinginess of the ginger. Just like a fast run through a beautiful forest.

Help: My Blog Got Stolen

Sara is in Love with… blogger Switzerland Zurich pink hair

A few days ago, I stumbled upon the page fashionmaggie.com and was shocked: The page turned out to be a doppelganger of saraisinlovewith.com. They copied all the content I created in the last seven years, all pictures, texts, my branding, and even my logo. The only thing they changed is that they call the page Fashion Maggie instead of Sara is in Love with…

When I discovered this, I felt heartbroken and hurt since my work is an important part of who I am. Creating the unique and colourful Sara is in Love with… universe is my passion and I invest a lot of time and effort into what you see on this page.

When your car gets stolen it's considered a crime, so you go to the police and ask for help. But what do you do when your intellectual property is taken without your consent? I tried a lot because I can't tolerate this behaviour: I contacted a lot of people including the provider of my copycat, the company who sold them the domain, Google, an organization that deals with internet crime and spoke to a lot of people who work with the internet. I talked to people in Panama, the US, Russia, Switzerland, and the UK, following the trail of my blog thieves and it is frustrating. Everybody keeps on telling me how terrible this is, but that they can't do anything and that somebody else is responsible. Everything I achieved is that Google removed their advertisings from the clone page, but it's still online and every time I think about it my mood darkens.

I really hope I can find a way to make this blog clone disappear because I am afraid of the harm it might do to my reputation and my page rank. I just want to say that it is truly not ok to steal another person's content and declare it as your own, it's theft! I think it's even worse than stealing a handbag since Sara is in Love with… is my creation, my biggest project and there is much more of me in this page than in anything else I own.

So please: Let my content be mine!

As soon as it gets warmer my love for African prints awakes. Well, actually it wasn't sleeping during winter, but since there are rarely warm jumpers or coats featuring those strong prints, I had to put them aside and wait till it was finally African Season in Europe again. Let the pattern mania begin!

Just like last summer, I see quite some European/American labels featuring African prints in their collections and this fills me with puzzlement: Most of them just seem to repeat what was done by African designers already, same fabrics, not very different cuts and silhouettes and not much innovation. Why do they bother if they don't add something different I ask myself and even more so: Why should I not just go for the real thing and support the African designers with my shopping? This is just what I do in this look with my pencil skirt and jacket made in Nigeria.

I believe that cultures enrich each other and it makes me happy that in my everyday life there are little signs of many different influences all mixed up to a beautiful union. This feeling is what I expect from European designers using African Prints: I want them to work with those fabrics because they adore their strong uniqueness and I want them to add something of their culture, to reinterpret them and create something new with love. This is what I'd buy, hang next to my original African designs, my Chinese kimonos, and British tartan skirts and take out to combine it to wild looks that know no boundaries.

If I had to choose one perfume to use for the rest of my life, it would be Alien by Mugler. There are not many fragrances who push boundaries and polarize as much as 2005 released Alien does and that's what I love about this icon: It's not everybody's darling, but something so edgy you either love or hate it. For years, I've been refilling my Alien bottle again and again and I always make sure to never run out of my signature scent, no matter how many other exciting perfumes I discover.

Whenever there is a new addition to the Alien family, I am among the first ones to test it. The danger of using the same perfume for a long time is that you might stop to notice it and trying reinterpretations helps to keep the excitement alive. They mean the possibility to discover new sides of a perfume you kind of know, familiar yet new. Sometimes you might be disappointed and think it's not as good as the classic, sometimes you might like it even better.

So I got really excited when I saw the iconic bottle in its stunning red colour for the first time and wondered what Fusion would be. Let's start with a few facts: Alien Fusion for her is an oriental floral spicy creation, it's a warm fragrance with ginger and cinnamon as top notes, orange blossom and tuberose as middle notes and white amber and vanilla as base notes. Mugler calls it the most flamboyant take on Alien yet and reviewers recon this might be the Alien for the new generation.

If I had to describe the fragrance in three words they would be spicy, warm and floral. Where the classic Alien is a blast of jasmine, this one seduces with orange blossoms and tuberose. It's slightly less edgy than the classic, but it keeps the beloved dichotomy of Alien at heart.

I love the spice twist with the ginger and the cinnamon. Despite those warm notes, I think it works very well as a summer fragrance since it's less intense and heavy than the classic. It makes me think of a walk on the surface of a foreign desert planet and sitting in the sand while watching a beautiful sunset. Alien Fusion, you're a wonderful addition to my Alien collection!

Confession: I have a fashion addiction and it's all about rainbows. It goes on for a while already and will continue not just until pride month is over. It's my statement against minimalism and my attempt to bring a little bit of happiness with me wherever I go. The excited inner child inside of me that wants to use all crayons at once is still alive and will never lose the passion for colour.

When I bought my first rainbow jumper I thought I am equipped now, but how little did I know! Soon afterwards, I discovered that my life is not complete without a whole pile of rainbow jumpers and t-shirts, cause rainbows like company. There are as many rainbows as shades of white and therefore the pile grew and grew. When I tidied up my wardrobe and saw all my rainbow tops it was clear: Yes this is not just a little thing, it's a real thirst for uniting all bright colours on my chest.

The jumper from this post is a lucky second-hand find, so no fast fashion happening in this post. Everything I wear is either handmade by designers from Switzerland and Germany or vintage (besides my Gucci sunglasses). I have to point out my collar made by Swiss designer Waternymph: This eyecatcher is using upcycled Australian fish scales and vintage leather. I never imagined that I'd wear fish around my neck until I saw it. But it is what it is: Everything is just perfect in rainbow, don't you agree?

The absence of fast fashion makes my rainbow even more cheerful and makes me feel alright about giving in to my rainbow thirst. What fashion addiction do you have at the moment?

Follow the Neon Trail

I’ve always had this thing with neon. Like a moth attracted by the light I am drawn to bright, fluorescent colours and neon signs. It’s either because I am an eighties child or that it runs in my veins.

When my grandfather was a young man, he went to Italy on holiday and saw "glowing advertisings" for the first time. He was so captured by this that when he went home to his tiny village, he decided to start a neon sign company. Probably the first one in the country. My grandma told me that people called him mad, but he believed in it, and the company still exists. If I still had some of the signs they produced, I’d love to mix them with the tropical neon collection in my living room and have a Mini-Vegas at home.

Thinking about my grandfather makes me wish I could do something as exciting and new as bringing neon signs to a place where people haven’t seen them before. But it has becomer tougher to come up with something new in a world where an eight-year-old might tell you that he has seen it all before. The resurrected 80's trend of wearing hot pink and blinding yellow still catches some stares for sure, but the times when it was genuinely shocking are long gone.

But it didn’t lose its excitement, so let’s follow the neon trail this summer and don’t follow the style guides that tell you to pair your neon pieces with beige please!

Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal A Paris

$

It's not just a rumour: Scandal A Paris is the newest fragrance for her by Jean Paul Gaultier. Model Irina Shayk is the face of the fragrance that is meant to be just like Paris: Seductive, powdery, chic, intoxicating and captivating. Oh la la!

The first Scandal launched in 2017, followed by Scandal by Night in 2018. This makes Scandal A Paris the third member of the family. What they all have in common is the sweetness of honey as an important keynote.

The Notes

Top: Honey – Heart: Pear – Base: Jasmine

How it smells
The ultra feminie fragrance is sweet and fruity, but still airy. The gorgeous opening is a strong blast of honey, followed by the juicy freshness of pear based on a soft bed of jasmine. It's a Scandal, but less decadent and strong than the classic fragrance.

I think it's a gorgeous and sensual fragrance to wear for going out in the evening. Scandal A Paris lasts very long on the skin which is another plus for long romantic nights out dreaming of Montmartre…It might be too heavy and sweet for the office unless you attempt to cause some rumours...

The bottle
I would have bought the fragrance just because of the bottle, since this one is really a hit with the cheeky silver legs on top of it. An absolute need for your shelf and very Gaultier!

While most bloggers are taking pictures in front of elegant cafes and in beautiful gardens, I am more attracted by the shaby corners of Zurich as a scenery for my pictures. Rundown buildings scrawly graffiti and dusty corners raise my curiosity to wonder about the stories happening before the beauty faded.

It's in the dust and junk, where real life happened and the melancholy of glorious times still lingers, far from stages and affected behaviour. No Parisian chic to be found in the dark but edgyness and a past that left its marks like faded scars. If you are not open for this beauty, you might shrug it off as ugly, dirty and dangerous and oversee the hidden. Have a second glance and you might discover the unexpected.

I think shabby corners and cute outfits are a good match with their dichotomy. It's like the fact that there is no Beauty without the Beast or no Sale without Full Prices. Pastel pink iridescent rainbow shades found their counterpart.

Only after styling this look it occured to me that it could be a reference to Britney's Oops! I did it again video from the 90's with the schoolgirl skirt, the college jacket and the knotted top. I wouldn't be me if it wouldn't be more colourful than her version. And I bet good school girls like young Britney didn't hang around my rough corners ;-)

Sara is in Love with… fashion blogger Swiss Zurich summer beach swimsuit Versace neon green vintage Mama Tierra Way tribe hat nana nana bag A4

Yay, I finally joined the queens of the beaches and look awesome in my swimsuit all day long, under a long row of pink fluffy palm trees – not. Is there somebody else in the city, pretending it's neither holiday season nor a heatwave, or am I the last one who didn't get that sunbathing is on the agenda and work has been cancelled? If it was a message to all I'm sorry: You must have missed to put my address on the mailing list.

Yesterday morning I sat on the bus, still very sleepy since finding the way to dreamland is not so easy in this heat. I asked myself why there are so many empty seats. Then realisation hit me: It's 'cause everybody else decided to have adventures far away from their office desks. I imagine most beaches, islands and hotels must be more crowded than offices right now.

Did you make it out of the ordinary too? Well done if yes! If your sipping a cocktail and watching the waves, please think of me for a second. I promise I'll do the same when my time to escape has come. But right now the piles of tasks everybody left behind are calling my name in their sweet, whispering voices. Just a second, I'm coming.

To be honest, I'm not the stereotypical beach girl anyway and if I have the choice between beach and a cool museum or discovering a new city I choose the not-beach-option most of the time. My sun allergy says thanks. But guess what: I do buy a new swimsuit or bikini every now and then, seeing myself chilling in a pink pool in my enormous flamingo floatie in that instagrammable hotel.

So here I am, playing beach day in my neon green vintage Versace on the terrace. The medusa on my back smiles when I tell her: No, this time this is not going to be the only use of my new swimsuit, this time we will make it to the beach! Get ready: We're coming, Medusa and me! Just give me time to work through some piles of papers first.

Sara is in Love with… fragrance review Carolina Herrera Good Girl beauty Swiss blogger test luxury brand

Hello good girls, bad girls and good girls gone bad: Do you already know that the fragrance Good Girl from Carolina Herrera is available in the country? It used to be on the shelves of the airport for a while. Since a few months, you don't need to buy a flight ticket to get it.

Good Girl expresses the duality of the modern woman: She is audacious and sexy, elegant and enigmatic, good and bad. All but onedimensional and beyond stereotypical thinking. Karlie Kloss is the face of the perfume.

The Notes

Top: Almond– Heart: Tuberose, Jasmin Sambac – Base: Tonka Bean, Cocoa

How it smells
If I had to describe this fragrance with one word it would be sexy without any doubt! the oriental gourmand fragrance is strong and made for nights out.

Without smelling the fragrance I expected it to be super feminine and sweet from the look of the bottle, but don't be mistaken: Good Girl has something very unisex and animalistic about it. Combined with its sweetness and the floral notes, it’s kind of an all-in-one scent for a grown-up woman who doesn't want to make choices.

The bottle
Seriously: Can a bottle be more spectacular than this black stiletto? It's the dream of any femme fatale and her weapon. I bet this is what Cat Woman has on her bathroom shelf too!
