Winter and me, we will never be friends. Since we got introduced, we have arguments about the minimum temperature necessary for human life on the planet. When it comes to style we have don't agree either: I plead for wearing heels all year while Winter is more on the boots side. Therefore the La Petite Box„Home Sweet Home“ edition hit my nerve: The subscription box was filled with essentials for cocooning during the cold days. Sorry Winter, we will not meet much this year (bet you will not miss me and my grumpy face when my shoes get covered in mud).

So let’s have a closer look, what do we need for a cozy day at home? Good tea, a lovely cup, lights and a notebook to write down dreams and poetry. All of this was in the box and more. I am in love with the porcelain cup from Mea Living with its pink star pattern. I wanted to have a cute cup for ages since I think it's time to stop the madness of discarding takeaway cups after every drink. Since I don’t drink coffee, I am happy there was organic luxury tea from Sirocco in the box. Sirocco is one of my favourite tea labels, yay!

In case winter wins our argument about footwear and makes me buy shoes there was a 20% voucher from ShoeLovers Club by Ochsen shoes in the box, I bet they have a lot of boots. But at the moment I rather sit home with the starlight from Heidi Swaps and use my pink YES notebook to create my first Zentangles. Zentangle is a method of drawing abstract patterns as a method to relax. ommmmmm! While I enjoy the coconut goodies from the box, I feel suddenly pleased and warm. After trying the flowery Missoni products which smell of freesia, peony, and rosyfolia, summer found it’s way back into my heart.

Yes, this is one of my favourite La Petite Boxes yet, because it came with healthy vegan snacks and drinks and the cup was a wishlist item and most important: It keeps winter away.

You do not see double: I am two Lolita (or almost three)! No, they are not standing next to each other holding hands and wearing both the same like the twins in Shining. Both are one: I am twice (or even close to three times) the age of sweet teenage Lolita from Vladimir Nabokov's book, but still, in love with heart-shaped glasses!

Just like the novel about the middle-aged professor and his obsession with a young girl is a classic, me wearing heart-shaped glasses is. I had my first pair when I was probably four or five. My mother might have bought them in a souvenir shop during our family holidays, I can't remember for sure. What I do remember is how proud I was and how I liked to wear them.

Nowadays my latest pair has a Saint Laurent tag on them, and I couldn't but fall for their retro-cat-eye-chic. I was on the hunt for them for a long while and so lucky when they were finally mine. There are so many fakes popping up everywhere, but I wanted the Saint Laurents, the real thing. I think they are a wonderful pair with this luxurious red cashmere coat from Swiss label M.Luna and the cute Hello Kitty shoes. A playful cute look, but as well with a grown-up air of luxury and good craftsmanship.

Next season, heart-shaped glasses might be so out of fashion, but I'll stick to them. They are an essential part of my style and I'll never grow too old to wear them.

The number of Lolitas inside of me might keep growing, but that's ok!

Be prepared: Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Time to get in a romantic mood, write love letters and spread flower petals! Maybe you even hope to get a shining ring as a gift because diamonds are a girl's best friend? I don't because I just got one and it's not any ring, but the ring of rings: An infinitely changeable jewel.

mood is an innovative, customizable unisex ring designed and made in Switzerland. It brings you endless possibilities of combination and allows you to express yourself playfully. Every ring consists of a two-part steel base and a central ring called addon that can be exchanged. Just as your look and mood changes, your ring will change with you and be perfect for every occasion. And the best: You can add pieces over the time.

Since pink is my black, my first addon had to be pink of course! I went for a pretty aluminum addon. But you know what a rainbow I am: I plan to have a whole box full of addons to have the right one for every look and outfit. Dear Valentine, why don't you bring me the next addon instead of another ring?

Dear Winter, I am very sorry but I think we just don't fit together and therefore I have to end our relationship. I tried to work on it very hard, but I just can't forget to think about spring. It feels like cheating on you, and you don't deserve that. I hope you will understand what I try to explain. My feelings for spring are just too strong.

When I think about springs tender blossoms, the beautiful pastel colours, and the smooth, warm daylight… Oh, I am sorry, I don't want to rub salt into your wounds (it might only melt your snow), my mind was wandering. I saw myself going for a stroll wearing this pink and yellow look. Have you seen the shoes with the cute birds and the necklace with the cute golden bees? Maybe it's better you don't, but start to look somewhere else and find somebody who loves you from the bottom of the heart.

I hope we can still be friends and say hello to each other when we meet again. You are terrific, but just not meant for me. I fear this is life. Thank you very much and goodbye.

Bloggers from Paris, London and New York have one significant undeniable advantage: They live in cities with a fashion week and therefore are at the pulse of our most beloved industry. Fashion week, the time of the year when all eyes turn the same way and whoever has a say in fashion has its picture taken walking in extravagant looks through puddles showing an "I don't care" attitude. This fashion week it's Alexander Wang's last show in New York, Bottega Veneta leaves Milan and goes big apple, JW Anderson goes co-ed, and I am sure we will all be talking about Balenciaga. So much buzz!

It seems like everybody is excited, on their feet and having their heart beating with the pumping sounds of the shows. Everybody? No, almost everybody but one: Sara is at home in good old Zurich, watching shows with untidy hair in bed on her computer and doing some compensation shopping on Farfetch. Great! Just like every year I get invitations to shows in Berlin, London and New York (ok never the big ones, but rather the quirky ones that I love most anyway) but let's face it: I can't just take off from my busy work life as a design director and spend a fortune on flights to get from a 20 minute show to NY to the next 20 minute show in London. After all, Sara is a reasonable girl, and I admit: Taking the liberty not to brush the hair on a Sunday is priceless too.

Supermarket and local Lebanese you can be happy: Otherwise you would never see me wearing my crazy stuff visiting you. I didn't make it to New York, but hey:
I can make it everywhere ;-)

I have a gold rush, and it got delivered right to my doorstep yay! Since you all know how much I do love subscription boxes, you can imagine how much I liked to open the parcel with the Boxmopolitan logo.

Boxmopolitan is a Swiss discovery box that brings you every month five to seven surprise products. It's like having a personal shopping coach that goes trend hunting for you and finds the most unique cool products. Unlike many other subscription boxes, Boxmopolitan doesn't feed you with boring mainstream products.

It's their mission as curators to introduce you to new items and they pay particular attention to organic ingredients, fair trade, local manufacturing and design quality. Gourmet is always an essential part of the surprises. One box costs 69.90 CHF, if you place a subscription for a few months, the price for the single boxes starts at 49.90 CHF.

What I found in my box

Sparkling wine by Elfenhof
Packed in a golden bar box, this dry sparkling wine has a fruity bouquet from the most excellent grapes of the Neusiedler Lake region in Austria and is enriched with real gold. Quite an eyecatcher on the table and the perfect drinks for lovers of prosecco and champagne like myself.

Golden Light candle by Yankee Candle
I believe home is not home without a vanilla candle and this one smells just good enough to eat with its chocolate-vanilla fragrance. It burns for 30 beautiful hours and makes my flat instantly cozier.

Gottlieber Wafers Special Edition Gianduja Orange
Swiss wafers with a filling of roasted hazelnuts and chocolate, enriched with fruity oranges. Since I am plant-based, they are not for me, but I bet my boyfriend will make them disappear entirely fast.

Woman in Gold and Gold Knight by Kilian
The only samples in the box are those two perfumes. Wish they were bigger because I love them very much. Woman in Gold is a fragrance with rose petals, vanilla, akigala wood and patchouli. Gold knight bedazzles the senses with patchouli, bergamot, vanilla, and anise. Both smell of luxury and I dream of a big bottle of Woman in Gold.

Lux Hair Oil by System Professional
A luxury hair oil with argan, jojoba and almond oil. My stressed hair loves this treat and sends it thanks. Since argan oil is known as liquid gold in Marocco, a perfect addition to the Gold Rush box.

Gold Glitter Gel by Ucanbe
A glitter makeup for face and body in dazzling gold. I used it as an eyeliner several times already and love it, it dries fast, stays where it should and is easy to remove.

A 10 CHF Voucher from Perfect Hair
I buy my shampoo and hairspray from PerfectHair.ch since I remember. Therefore this voucher is something I can use very well. They have (almost) everything I am looking for, fast delivery and reasonable prices.

What I think about the Gold Rush box

I love the Gold Rush box and think what you get for the price is a very fair deal for getting so much inspiration. I discovered exciting products I didn't know before, my favourites are the sparkling wine, the Kilian perfumes, and the makeup glitter. Thank you so much Boxmopolitan!

I am curious to see what's in the next Boxmotolitain boxes, and if you love surprises, you should join the gang.

Lovely Perfume Review: Mademoiselle by Azzaro

Before the first flowers sprout in the gardens, Mademoiselle by Azzaro brings the smell of spring onto your skin. This perfume is a light, fruity-floral Eau de Toilette. It greets you with sweet peach and fresh mandarin blossom, followed by jasmine, peony and orange blossom. Then it finally caresses you with a blend of orris and precious wood notes.

The woman I see wearing Mademoiselle is a young chic Parisian beauty with a gentle heart. Her head is full of dreams of romance, and she has a playful soul. Her smile is bedazzling, and the wind plays with her long hair while she spends mild spring eves in the parks of her beloved Paris enjoying the sun.

Maybe she wears a pretty bow in her hair, just like the silver satin ribbon on the bottle. Did I mention how stunning the jewel-like bottle with the powdery pink liquid is?

It's an eye-catcher in every boudoir, and if you are looking for a spring fragrance, I think you should give Mademoiselle a try and travel to Paris with a spritz.

Let's talk about something I never did so far: The difficulties of meeting other bloggers. As an introvert person (some people might be surprised to hear, but that's just because I work very hard on being outgoing) meeting new people is a little challenge for me every time. It's not that I don't enjoy company or don't like people. But as an ex-mobbing victim, I never entirely lost the fear of people disliking me and maybe even reacting nastily. It's nowhere as bad as it used to be, thanks to many positive encounters.

Here comes the but: Meeting other bloggers is sometimes a tough test for my confidence. While there are a lot of lovely, friendly blogger girls with hearts full of girl power, I also experienced discouraging reactions.

I met bloggers who immediately checked out my Instagram account after saying hello and lost interest in any conversation when their number of followers was higher than mine. There are some bloggers I regularly see who don't ever greet, not even if I take the first step. Blogging seems not just a world of pretty pictures, but as well a world of competition. Isn't it sad? Isn't there space for more than one blogger and wouldn't we all benefit from being supportive and kind?

I refuse to join the ranks of competition, and I work hard on not losing faith in myself after every negative encounter. If we meet at an event in the future, please say hello and let's have a good time together! I don't care how much followers you have, but I am interested what kind of a person you are and would like to know where your creativity lies and what drives you. Let's have a glass of sparkling wine together and turn a blogger business event into an evening with friends. After all, we share a big, big passion and I think there must be a lot we could talk about. Thank you and cheers.

Let's Show Them How Bathleisure Works!

I read in a fashion magazine that "Bathleisure" is the Instagram trend right now and that Rita Ora invented it last November. when she appeared on the red carpet dressed like she came right from the shower. I laughed out loud because I had some pictures planed and taken before that featuring just everything this "trend" needs. But since I am the slowest blogger on earth I didn't manage to finish my article before.

For those who don't know yet, let me explain what Bathleisure is: The word itself is a combination of "bath" and "athleisure". Athleisure describes workout clothes that are worn lounging around. Bathleisure is a very similar thing, a towel on your head is the star. To style the perfect Bathleisure look you combine your towel with a bikini top, heavy makeup and huge statement sunglasses (or accessories). It instantly makes you look like a true leisure girl and like you are constantly on holidays.

I love it since this is basically what I wear every day before I dry my hair and wearing a towel in my hair makes me always feel like the crowned queen of casual. Stars like Rita Ora, Leandra Medine, Rihanna or Emily Ratajkowski must agree because they are all on the Bathleisure bandwagon. What caught my eyes in their pictures: All of them wear white or rather plain towels and I think my gorgeous pompom towel tops it all. It's from ZigZagZurich and woven on old looms in Turkey, only in small quantities.

Even if I am more a working girl than a leisure girl, I agree there is nothing more relaxing than a hot bath. It's my treat after workouts and one of my favourite moments of the week. Recently I discovered the products from t by tetesept and they are my bath buddies since then. No wonder since they smell deliciously of pink orchid and ylang-ylang or (now you have to listen) CHAMPAGNE and PEARLS, I feel like a rainbow version of Dita Teese in a huge cocktail glass taking a bath and finally, it seems pretty comfy to do absolutely nothing for a while.

In January I was soooo determined to turn myself into a better version of myself, take the best care of myself, eat healthily, do sports and relax as often as possible. I already saw this healthy future Super Sara in front of me when I closed my eyes. But then came February and March, both months proved to be quite stressful, and I lost a part of my energy and determination. When this La Petite Box arrived, it was just the right thing to remind me of my goals.

This edition of the Swiss monthly subscription box has the theme "Energy" and is curated by Lara Schurter, founder of greenlane. If you are looking for premium natural cosmetics, you should visit this shop in Zurich or their online shop. I am among their regular customers and love to discover exciting natural products there. Lara's determination to find the best quality products for her customers with a strong focus on sustainability and ethics is genuinely inspiring. But let's have a look at the box:

What I found in my box

Ahava Dead Sea Water Mineral Hand Cream
A light and hydrating hand cream enriched with the power of the Dead Sea water. Hand creams are something you find in almost every goodie bag and therefore I have a whole box, but Ahava's bestseller is the best I tried in a long while and went straight into my handbag..

Teatox Skinny Morning
A blend of organic green tea and mate to start the day. Teatox says that beauty begins from within and provides a kick-start into the day with this tea. As a tea lover, I am all in! Mate is just the best replacement for caffeine available.

Bodhi Coconut Soap
Deliciously smelling soap, handmade using traditional methods of soapmaking. I use this one as a wardrobe refresher; now my clothes smell like they come from a tropical island :-D

Yoho Fitness Tracker
This waterproof tracker measures your steps and blood pressure, counts calories and watches over your sleep. Unfortunately, I found the instruction manual not that helpful and couldn't use any other functions but the step counter. But at least I do finally know that my need for a wearable is not as big as I thought and choose to trust my guts instead of an app.

Seagret Pomegranate Body Lotion
Only the best ingredients are used to create this beautiful body cream. It's a restorative blend of Dead Sea minerals and perfect for all skin types.

Vitamin Well Awake
A new beverage from Vitmanin Well and yaaaay: It's the nicest shade of pink. Unlike other drinks, Vitamin Well is not full of sugar but quenches your thirst with raspberry flavour, vitamins, and caffeine. I looooove it and need more!

RooBar Mango Magic
An energy bar with a fruity mix of mango, banana, and cashew. It's vegan, glutenfree and light, so just the kind of snack I like.

What I think about the Energy box

Yesyesyes, a winner! I prefer natural products whenever I can, so this box is a winner.  As a little extra there was even a 20% voucher for greenlane in the box which I already used to get eye and sun cream. Thank you very much, La Petite Box!

If you watch my Instagram attentively, you might have noticed one thing: I get bored of things quite easily, don't stick to habits, and my looks change from pink to yellow to blue and all the way back. Basic is a synonym for "don't buy" in my ears and if a shopping assistant tells me I could also combine a piece with a simple denim trouser I smile politely but roll my inner eyes. I love stability and consistency when it comes to friendships and relationships, but never when it comes to fashion. I don't want to stay the same but evolve and reinvent myself.

But there is one consistency as an exception: Even I stick to a few beloved pieces of jewellery, like the rings I got from my man and my two Les Georgettes bangles. I rarely leave the house without those bangles with their fine metalwork I must say. On the opposite: I feel naked when I am not wearing one of them at least.

Why? Because I love the bangles of the innovative French label and their ability to change with me. They all come with reversible coloured bands and the options are nearly endless. So no matter if I want them to match my outfit or be an eye catcher in a different colour, I have the ability to do so. Yay, this is jewellery that matches my spirit.

I just need more bands (and maybe one or two of their rings as well)…

It's kind of funny: Most girls I know wear trousers all the time and rarely go for a skirt or dress while I am the complete opposite. Last year we did a group picture with about 150 people and while looking at it I realized I was the only one wearing a skirt. Me and the trousers, it's a very short story with only small numbers: In six years of blogging I only shot four looks with trousers, two of them sports outfits with leggings (no chance to wear skirts), one of them a hotpants look (which technically doesn't really count as a trouser), one with palazzo pants most people mistook for a maxi skirt and the last one was a look with a jeans hiding under a kimono.

So let's be honest and face it: I never did a genuine trousers look before and even if my wardrobe is massive I only got two or three pairs of trousers (besides my gym leggings) which are all stored on the bottom and get rarely touched. This makes today's look quite a premiere, doesn't it?

Finally, I found a pair of trousers I like and it hit me completely by surprise at nearly eleven o'clock in the night at the Fashionhotel shortly before the shops were about to close. I tried them on and was absolutely happy, felt pretty and my rather short legs looked twice as long wearing them.

Probably it has to do with my better body shape thanks to the sports program I started last year as well, that I finally feel well and confident enough to wear trousers. I'll stick to loving skirts, but it's great if you find out you can wear more things than you thought and your body is probably better than you actually thought. Dear gym, I'll continue to visit you!

As my trousers would say:
Look pretty, play dirty! (Ok maybe I will not play dirty, but whatever ;-))

The lipstick is my favourite makeup tool and the beauty essential that makes me always feel feminine and beautiful. I love my lipsticks bright, high in pigments and with a matte finish.

Therefore I was very excited to hear that Clarins released a new matte version of its legendary golden Lipstick. After silky Joli Rouge and shiny Rouge Joli Brilliant, this is the third finish of the line and the one I've been anticipating.

Joli Rouge Velvet is a longlasting and hydrating lipstick with a creamy texture. Thanks to its base of organic Salicornia extract and apricot oil it's exactly as moisturizing as Clarins promises. I found Joli Rouge Velvet very easy to apply because it glides very gently on the skin. The elegant golden packaging is another bonus for a little bit of movie star glamour in the handbag.

It comes in 10 striking shades, so there must be one for every girl, no matter if you are the plum type, spicy chili, grenadine or rather pink cranberry. All you need to do is choose and smile.

Be ready to be kissed wearing your Joli Rouge Velvet, cause it always all starts with a kiss. ;-)

Fashion Revolution, Sustainable fashion, who made my clothes

Do you know who and under what conditions the things you wear are made? This is exactly the question the Fashion Revolution asks with the hashtag #WhoMadeMyClothes. The global movement Fashion Revolution believes in a fashion industry that respects the environment and the people working in the industry just as much as creativity and asks for more transparency about production.

As a fashion blogger, there is nothing that I love more than fashion, but I wish to live in a world where people or our planet don't have to suffer for this pleasure. I suspected a long time ago that fast fashion must come with a higher price than written on the tag and watching movies such as "The True Cost" completely opened my eyes.

I can't get pictures such as the horrible scene of how in 2013 the Rana Plaza building in Bangladesh collapsed out of my head. Nearly 1200 people died and 2500 got injured when this manufacturing building for clothing for big global brands crashed down like a house of cards. Workers reported cracking plaster days before the incident but they were sent back to their posts and the fact that the building was unsafe was ignored due to cost pressure. It's five years since this happened and clearer than ever that there is an extreme need for change in the industry! A disaster like Rana Plaza should never ever happen again!

How can I keep going and loving what I wear knowing it might be made under very unsafe conditions, physical and verbal abuse and with far too less pay? This made me see fast fashion as what it was: Something that makes us all poor. I don't promise I will never wear a fast fashion brand again, but I plead for all of us paying more attention, trying to buy less but better and make a choice for fair brands with our buys more often. Let's make a statement and tell labels that we are not fine with paying any price for our clothes – and I don't mean the price written on the tag but what lies behind production!

Now you might say that this is all true and like you feel too but that we can't do something anyway. Yes, I agree it's impossible for us to visit every factory and see with our own eyes if human rights are respected, but we can demand more transparency from the brands and shops where we leave our money. We can all ask them #WhoMadeMyClothes and keep asking with persistence till the brands listen to us. Because the Fashion Revolution is millions of people all over the world, in Switzerland, it's me and hopefully you soon too!

On the 28th of April, there is a Fashion Revolution Day happening in Switzerland for everybody who wants to join. There will be a market for 30 sustainable brands, workshops, movie screenings of "The True Cost" and "Blue River", performances, a fashion show and even a party. Entrance is free.

Find out more here and let's meet there!

"What would you do if you ever get bored of colours?" somebody asked me recently. "How could I?" was my urge to say, because for me, to live and wear colours is the most natural thing in the world. As essential as breathing, eating and laughing. There is no why, only a lot of why not's.

But since I wanted to confuse that person a little bit, I started a wild story about a rainbow living in my wardrobe and whenever I open my closet I come out all colourful day after day. Like Narnia, but in rainbow colours. And who would ever get bored of going to Narnia?

Maybe that person thought I am either crazy or on drugs, but hey: If wearing colours is so much out of somebody's comfort zone, then it's certainly a sign that this zone needs enlargement! Yes, I agree, dressing in colours needs a bit of courage (but only a tiny little bit). You might provide somebody with a target, but you have fun and eventually might discover that it makes you feel good. I am absolutely sure that person mastered challenges a million times more difficult in his life, so no need to be afraid of colours at all! After all, they neither bite or hurt.

When I styled this look, I thought about classical divas and wanted to create a modern easy diva version, that fits my quirky nature. I went for rather classical cuts, but an unusual and flashy colour combination. How could I not discover before how well orange actually goes with pink? Of course no diva without a glamorous scarf, big glasses, and gloves and big earrings. My aim was to revive that spirit from Shirley Maclaine in "What a Way to Go!" from 1961, but in a toned down way. Maybe the look a diva would wear if she goes grocery shopping or grabs some fast food at her local organic store before returning to her pink pool at home. How I love my colourful life…

La Petite Box, an exciting Swiss lifestyle subscription box, is always good for a surprise. I love that they come up with new cool themes for their boxes month after month and that I discover new brands and products with them. This box was all about love, the topic number one among us girls (besides fashion and makeup) no matter if in a relationship or single.

Let me tell you more about the nine items in the box and if it was love at firs sight or not:

Mini Silk Scarf from The Moshi
One little silk scarf, many possibilities: It keeps the neck protected from the cold (or hides love bruises), can be used as a headband or to decorate a bag.

Cute Keychain from Virugle
Of course no love box without a Paris-themed item! I love this keychain with the cute macaroon, Eiffel Tower, and sweets charms. Oui, je peux utiliser ça!

Moschino Cheap And Chic So Real Mini
Everybody knows how much I love Moschino, so this is my favourite item in this box. It's a rather light and fresh scent with a mixture of citruses and fruity notes and a very cool blue bottle.

Treaclemoon Raspberry Kiss Handcream
A raspberry bomb for soft hands coming in a cute packaging. You do well treaclemoon!

Osis Soft Glam Strong Glossy Holdspray
A hairspray for a controlled out-of-bed-look. Love the pink bottle and its smell. Since I love to have my hair always 100% under control I think it might not be my thing.

Labellino by Labello Lip Balm
Very cute lip balm that smells like raspberry and red apple. Sounds like it must have come directly from paradiese and my lips are happy.

Toothbrush Set from Curaprox
I love Curaprox and their colourful toothbrushes. I was a little bit surprised by the Swiss cross (Wouldn't a heart have been better for a love box?). Since I don't have a very great sense of nationality, those found their way into another bathroom.

Heldenpause Lemonade
A lemonade without preservatives, sugar or artificial flavourings, but with an amazing taste of pears, apples, and herbs. Very yummy! Can I please have another bottle and pretend I'm a hero?

Marshmallow kit
A cool retro style kit to make your own pink marshmallows. As a vegan, I am sadly out, and I think I would be too lazy anyway, so I gave this one to a friend.

Can somebody please write me a mail asking for my advice if it's still ok to love My Little Pony as a grownup? Ok, I don't wait for this to happen, but this is what I'd say:

Dear lovely reader,
the answer is very simple, yes! If you love them and they make your heart jump with happiness there can be absolutely nothing wrong!

I believe that all those unwritten restrictions about who is supposed to like what at what age are all just made to be broken. They are made for people who are afraid to stand and are simply ridiculous and silly! Don't fear if somebody says your love for ponies is childish because you are perfectly aware that this has nothing to do with dealing in an adult way in situations that require it. And if you like to express your love in your styles, do that as well.

Loving My Little Pony might just be a sign that you did a great job growing up but not losing your playful side, so please never stop stroking rainbow manes! If you have kids there might even be a bonus: You can share your love and toys!

Sara Dares to be Different & Goes Self.Styled

Ladies and Gentlemen, it finally happened: Sara is part of the Self.Styled project by British photographer Anthony Lycett. This is something I had been dreaming about for a long time because I longed to join the amazing and extraordinary people Anthony captures in his pictures.

Self.Styled is a project that celebrates the freedom of expression and the individuality of personal style. Since ten years, Anthony Lycett is portraying carefully chosen people, exploring themes such as gender, body shapes, different tastes and the meaning of colour in his work. Each person who participates in Self.Styled chooses two looks: Daywear and nightwear, both created in a stylist-free zone. Anthony stages his subjects in front of a plain white background to focus on their personality, character and look, freed from context.

Self.Styled has become a fascinating overview of the diverse understanding of taste and style. It unites all kind of eccentrics from Punks to Goths, dandies, transvestites and urban avant-gardists. I go even a step further and call it THE encyclopedia of individual style of our time. Browsing through the collection of the subject makes my heart jump with happiness because it's a boost of creativity and a visual anthem to a world where diversity is celebrated. Self.Styled challenges conventional standards of beauty and is proof there is space for all of us to be proud of who we are: A united zoo of colourful exotic creatures in a sea of communities who endeavour uniformity.

When I was asked to do my pictures, I first got into a panic attack, my wardrobe exploded into my bedroom and I was lost in a galaxy of possible outfits. How to reduce myself to only two looks? What is my essence? And even worse: How to choose looks that fit into a suitcase on top of all belongings required for a week of holidays in London (and space for additional shopping treasures)? For a second I was tempted to postpone the whole thing. But thanks to my eagerness to make my Self.Styled dream come true I suppressed my nervousness and simply went for looks I genuinely love. I had the picture of a quirky Lolita that runs away from home and goes on a road trip in my mind for the red look and an Alice in Wonderland garden party for the pink look. Both looks are playful, but I think they show different sides of me.

We did as well a few extra pictures, playing with the jewellery and costumes of artist Sophie Cochevelou. You see those below. How in love I am with that pony jacket! I am aware that many people would feel disguised wearing something like this, but I am the opposite: Less is not more, but just less me, so give me all the ponies, bury me in jewels and crown me with the Barbies to reveal my true self! The whole shooting was an exciting experience, and I want to thank Anthony for making me feel so comfortable in front of his camera and I am proud to be the only participant with Swiss origins until now.

There is already a book published about the project, you can get it on Amazon.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for a second book and maybe my I'll get my space in it...
Wish me luck.

A few days ago I lost my favourite earring, a giant purple squid. I was sad, almost like when a good friend just left and I was alone, wishing that person back with me.

This might sound silly because I am just talking about a pair of earrings, a silly piece of plastic and metal, something purely material. But I had them for a few years and wore them quite often. I got a lot of compliments and people asked if they might touch them, even strangers. They traveled with me to London, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Lisbon, my squid companions.

I tried to find the quantum of good in my misfortune and told myself it was just a pair of earrings and it might be time for something new. I consider myself as a person who embraces change in many facets of life and this is no difficult lesson in proving that. What a lucky girl I must be if nothing worse happens to me but me losing some earrings!

The empty space my squid left got already filled: Two pairs of earrings from Berlin label Tukadu arrived to bring back a broad smile on my face. Designer Roberta, her son Tilman, and their team create unique and quirky pieces since 1993. I think both pairs I got are just as special as my squid, unicorns, and birds. So let's start adventures together, let's travel and see what looks we can create! Let's go far together, come back and catch people's eyes!

They are nicer animals than squids anyway, right?

A few weeks ago, while I was in London, I met Vivienne Westwood at my favourite Indian restaurant. We had an inspiring chat about politics and sustainability. What I read about her before has proven itself true: Vivienne's priority is not fashion design anymore, but ecology, climate change, and sustainability.

And the queen of punk is right: What could be more important than carrying about keeping our planet healthy and clean? Right: Nothing! Therefore we should all try to set a good example to inspire others to live a responsible life. I believe change can start with little things, like not using straws, buying unwrapped vegetables and using public transport instead of owning a car. Decreasing the number of plastic bottles in our everyday life is on the list too and reduces our carbon and plastic footprint.

Therefore my new flatmate is a SodaStream that frees me (or my boyfriend to be honest) from carrying home numerous plastic bottles. From now on, I just make my own fresh sparkling water with tap water! Magic, yes? Since I could never convince myself to drink pure tap water, even if we have a good water quality in Switzerland, this is finally a solution where I don't have to me miss my beloved bubbles. Now I can add even as many as I like.

But let's be honest: I wouldn't be Sara if I would do something just for practical reasons. There is no way an ugly machine would ever find it's way into my kitchen no matter how good it is. The old design of SodaStream was such an example and I guess many of you who grew up in the 80s just like I remember that horrible machine from their childhood. But hey: SodaStream didn't sleep since then and the new SodaStream Crystal with its elegant glass bottles and the shiny cylinder is a completely different league, ready to occupy a place in even a very stylish kitchen.

While back then my parents had a SodaStream to save money, my primary reason is to save resources and this makes this machine a gadget at the pulse of the time and just another step towards a more sustainable life without sacrifices. The only bad news: My boyfriend might have to go to the gym more often since he can't exercise carrying bottles anymore ;-)
